Siwa is an Egyptian city and ancient oasis in the Western Desert of Egypt, about 300 km from the Mediterranean coast to the southwest of MarsaMatruh city, about 500 Km from Alexandria city and over 500 Km from Cairo.

1- The Mountain of the Dead.

The Mountain of the Dead is located 2 kilometers from the Siwa area of MarsaMatrouh Governorate. It was discovered by chance in 1944 during World War II, when the people of Siwa sought refuge in the mountain and discovered tombs there. It is a horn-shaped mountain 50 meters high.The history of this archaeological cemetery goes back to the 26th Dynasty and extends to the Ptolemaic and Roman eras. These tombs combine in their design between ancient Egyptian art and Greek art, and this fusion arose as a result of the mixing of cultures.

One of the most beautiful cemeteries there is the Cemetery of Si Amun

Another cemetery was called the Crocodile Cemetery, and it was named after the drawings engraved on it, which are the shape of a yellow crocodile representing the god Sobek.

2- The historical Castle of (Shali) and the old market.

Shali is the ancient city and castle in the heart of the Siwa Oasis in the Western Desert in Egypt.

The history of the ancient city dates back thousands of years BC, as it contains the Temple of Amun, which was established by the ancient Egyptians. Then Alexander the Great came to that temple upon his entry into Egypt in order to worship there and declare himself the son of Amun,

The castle is an old mud-brick fortress. It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries with the aim of repelling the attack of the Arabs and the mobile tribes in the desert.

3-Siwa market.

Siwa market The history of the market dates back to the late 1960s .It is the largest market for selling dates, olives, and olive oil.

4- Salty lakes.

The salt lakes are located about 30 kilometers east of SiwaOasis.There are four main lakes in Siwa: Lake Olive, east of Siwa, Lake Aghormi, Lake Al-Maraqi, west of the oasis, and Lake Fatnas. They are like swimming pools, with turquoise water collecting in them

Salty lakes with layers of white salt resembling snow deposited on their shores, especially in the fall. The largest salt lake is Lake Olive, which reaches 25 km in length .The salt lakes region has become an important tourist destination for visitors to the Siwa Oasis in recent years, and trips are organized there, to enjoy the natural scenery, as well as treatment for skin diseases, and in search of rest and relaxation.

5 -Hot water springs.

1- Cleopatra’s Eye:

It’s one of Siwa's Favorite tourist attractions. It is also known as the Juba Eye or the Eye of the Sun. It is a stone bath filled with natural hot spring water. Some claim that it was named after the Egyptian queen who swam in it herself during a period in Siwa. ,

2- Fatnas eye:

It’s about 6 km west of Siwa and is located on Fatnas Island overlooking the salt lake and surrounded by palm trees and desert landscapes.

3- Keghar eye: 

There are water springs in Siwa that are used for therapeutic purposes in treating psoriasis and rheumatic diseases. Ain Keghar is the most famous of them, as its water temperature is 67 degrees Celsius and it contains several mineral and sulfur elements.
